Whatever magic they worked on the Beatles Anthology restoration, it’s incredible. The performance footage looks so clean on a 4K tv.

(Not so) fun fact: the Epstein emails aren’t even trending in The Other Place. Imagine that.

Our research team has been studying polarization in Alberta for the past 5 years.

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that the elite-level divisions are not so much left-vs-right, but pluralist vs populist.+

I’ve seen trolls comparing O&G workers to teachers on a couple fronts and they’re so close to getting it but always miss the point. Perhaps if the O&G folks were better aligned unions could have gotten them those better working conditions and job protections they keep criticizing the teachers about.

Every union in this country should be outraged by what the UCP is doing in Alberta today. Smith and the idiots in charge of the UCP have made this a national issue. Every Premier in this country that is silent on this wants to know they can do the same thing. Send the message they can’t.

SNL using the Buck Shot Show theme for its 80s skit was an unexpected twist from the season opener.

We’re all sitting here watching and waiting for Americans to just stand up and really start fighting back, and maybe they just won’t?

When I became a Senator, I started flying a lot. Back and forth from Edmonton to Ottawa - not to mention flights to conferences and events. I had never before understood the archaic way that flight attendants are paid. The clock only starts when the airplane door closes. 🧵

Bravo to CUPE for doing the right thing and telling Hajdu and AC to shove it. Fully support this.

I am shocked that the Herald ran this.
"This is a warning. Alberta is not immune to the sickness devouring our neighbours to the south. It is the sickness of authoritarian capitalism, cloaked in patriotism, funded by billionaires and sold as common sense." more/

Canada, beware: Alberta is the canary in the coal mine
Canada is not America. Not yet. But if we do not defend our values, compassion, fairness, equality, and truth, we will lose them

The day that Canada has a competently lead party that actually represents workers AND has a decent—not great, just decent—communications plan/execution, it’ll be a great day. For all the finger pointing we do to the south, we sure have a lot of the same “this is the best we can do?” In our politics.

Applauded Jon Stewart’s rant tonight. Came here to see what was being said. Saw a number of people who are “nah, fuck that guy for not blindly backing Dems, he’s the reason we’re in this shit.”

And like, the one thing the right does that the left continually shits the bed on? No purity tests.

Funny thing: when you start taking care of people and help lift them out of poverty, the need for such an exaggeratedly large police force disappears.
Cops love to do the "if [left of center politician] becomes mayor, we're all gonna resign!" thing and then not resign when it happens www.nbcchicago.com/chicago-mayo...

@ctoverdrive.bsky.social absolutely brilliant pass to put the ball on David’s foot on that goal.

I am absolutely stunned that the UCP would actually stoop _this_ low. Take a couple minutes to be amazed at the sheer gall it takes to produce this and then tell the provincial government how ashamed they should be.
Here’s the survey. You have to see the manipulative propagandist video for yourselves. I encourage you to respond to the short survey and leave them with some of your thoughts. Here are mine.

Lets bury them in responses that oppose their racist rhetoric. www.albertanextpanel.ca/survey/surve...

Was in LA to help my buddy’s band who were playing a showcase in 2002. Went down to Santa Monica pier before the gig. As we’re walking back to the car I nearly get bowled over by John Travolta and Kelly Preston as they were hustling to their car to avoid paps that had found them.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Wonder if a possible answer to 1) is because of our proximity to American politics?
Good Q. Not sure about last 200 years but in contemporary context, 1) party leaders in Canada seem exceedingly dominant over their parties, even relative to other Westminster systems, and 2) party leadership selection completely divorced from Parliament/caucus (esp relative to Aus).
