Democrat Forrest Dunbar was on Nat Guard training in Poland and got personal leave, and bought his own ticket, to get back to AK and vote for the override.

If you are wondering why the special session was scheduled when he was in Poland, well, I'm thinking no one imagined he would do what he did

Imagine being the fucking Tennessee Assistant Attorney General who fought this tooth and nail: www.tennessean.com/story/news/c....

There is NO reason for the state to oppose a request like this. It benefits the public not at all, even theoretically. It’s just unadulterated cruelty.
Judge grants Nashville death row inmate's request to disable heart device before execution
A Chancery Court judge says the state must disconnect the heart defibrillator shortly before the inmate's August execution to avoid a prolonged death.

Wow.

I just changed my settings in this app to use a default browser (Firefox) instead of the in-app browser, and my Bluesky experience just got a lot better.

The in-app browser is a little like a 1980s car dealership commercial.

Settings>Content & Media>Use In App Browser: off.

It's not some new way of doing government.

It's a crime spree.
At some point we are going to go from courts declaring acts by the Trump Admin to be illegal/unconstitutional to a recognition that Musk and his posse have broken dozens/hundreds of laws and are criminals.

It needs to be understood that Elon Musk has been on a crime spree not an efficiency drive.
I joined Ali Velshi last night on MSNBC’s The Eleventh Hour to discuss the Chief Justice’s rebuke of the President. I explained that America is in a constitutional crisis when, rather than faithfully executing the laws, the President of the United States is defying the laws.

Public comment genuinely matters. Courts will overturn rules based on an administration not responding to substantive comments.
Department of Education FAFSA changes are open for public comment. The changes include requiring trans students to misgender themselves and removes the nonbinary option on forms. Note: comment period is 60 days, and comments are publicly visible.

The Republican lead in the House is tiny, and they're vulnerable in upcoming special elections. Consider donating and volunteering for Gay Valimont, running for Matt Gaetz's seat. We can't abandon the institutions of democracy to the kleptocrats. secure.actblue.com/donate/gay-v...

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.

In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here.
