I develop in-conduit hydro and solar within rural communities and irrigation districts. Live in Portland, raised in Kansas. You will hear about the #energytransition, Royals, Blazers, and Chiefs.
Good article. For me, the act of abandoning a book that is a struggle and moving on made me read so much more.
i got tired of "how to read more" advice from people who are book critics and don't own tvs and live in monasteries with no wifi, so here is some advice from someone with a terminal case of internet brain www.shesabeast.co/how-to-read-...
how to read more

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Oklahoma probably looking a third victory in the last month that completely changed thanks to their special teams

I'm going to sound like a grumpy old man but when I turn on the game I should know the teams by color scheme. Put on OU Mizzou and you wouldn't know it by their uniforms

Ok BlueSky: what are your favorite history books in terms of sheer page-turning, narrative propulsion? Thinking along the line of Killers of the Flower Moon, etc. Nonfiction chronicles that read like novels or movies.

This is great to see. I started focusing on my health and haven't had a drink since 2022. I feel fantastic having done so
I don't want to make a big deal of it but today is the end of Week 6 of no alcohol and I feel like it's a decision I needed to make because it was getting too routine on the weekends and I did not like the direction that seemed to be trending

Anyway love y'all

It was shame that MLB didn't induct him while still alive. He deserved it. I talked to him at several games and honestly one of the nicest people I ever met.
On this day in 1911, John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil was born in Carabelle, FL. It's hard to say whether I've ever seen a better ambassador for the game (especially the Negro Leagues) in my lifetime, though I doubt it. Here's a color study of the man with the Kansas City Monarchs in 1948.

We have several feasibility studies going right now at irrigation districts to evaluate colocation next to very large pumps (1000HP +). And I've seen a huge shift in the rural communities we serve since the increase of power safety shutoffs. One community had over twenty shutoffs last summer.

So gross by MLB. They still need the little guy's money.
Following this weekend’s indictments of Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz, MLB has announced that, in collaboration with major sports books, single pitch wagers are being capped at $200 and excluded from all parlays:

I couldn't agree more as a political staffer it was easy to see how the private side was drawing talent away because of the financial incentives. But this goes across all government.
ryan is right. people HATE hearing this. but it is just a matter of simple incentives. if you want a more representative legislature — and if you want a legislature more resistant to corruption — then you need to jack up the salaries. serving as mayor of NYC should net you a cool 500K *at least*
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up

Defense is now questioning Lairmore on cross-examination. They show a video still of the sandwich and wrapper on the ground, post-throw.

"Do you recognize that sandwich?" the attorney asks.

Lairmore won't confirm.

"I did not go back to collect it," he says.

Absolutely amazing: they've got so much solar in Australia that they need more people to use more of it, so the gov't has instructed energy retailers to offer *at least three hours of free power* during the middle of the day.

Meanwhile fossil-addled US struggles with an energy-price crisis ...
Energy retailers to be directed to offer free power three hours a day
Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net
