"Crown Vic 2" is the second in a series of short stories/novelettes/novellas from Lee Goldberg. If you're in need of a quick, fun read, this is definitely worth picking up. Can't wait to see more in this series from @leegoldberg.bsky.social

👋🏾 random question:

I think you used to have a basic story generator that was the size of a trifold brochure. You could roll dice, I believe, to help with crafting a story premise.

Does that sound familiar at all? 😅

Bought this a few months back and honestly we need more fiction written like this.
bought this in-universe history of the galactic empire (by an actual historian) and it is actually pretty good

A lot of thriller books and movies are based on a premise that's nonsensical. "Yeah right, like they'd ever stop inspecting cruise ships. So theres no way a zombie virus would come to that isolated resort town."

I swear. Writing is the only discipline where we make people feel like failures for practising. How many songs does a violinist learn that never wind up in recital? How many studies do painters do? Acting exercises. Tennis for fun.

You're allowed to write without the intention of publishing.
I wrote seven novels before Someone You Can Build A Nest In. I didn't just throw away drafts. There are some eras of my life and spirit that will go unpublished.

And that's okay, because they helped me become the writer I am. They weren't failure. They were education.
I have heard so many newer writers—including extremely good ones!—bemoan that they think they're a failure because they might have to throw out a half-finished draft and start over.

Throwing out a draft is
a) very very normal and
b) progress, not failure.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow

Looking for thoughts/input from economists ( @dandrezner.bsky.social ? 🤞🏾)

I would assume Miran's argument makes no sense because, among other things, post-WWII growth was because of high gov't spending, manufacturing base, and high tax rates, all of which isn't here anymore or changing. Right?
