Sick take bro. We should destroy the lives of millions of immigrants so we can accelerate the creation of a Peter Thiel Bladerunner techno-dystopia.

Fascinating mind at work.

A prominent church official recently said, “We have to learn to live with different views and with different understandings of what the Bible says to us.” Taken at face value, this sounds unobjectionable.

"Things happen" sometimes, like when you walk into an embassy to apply for your marriage license while your bride-to-be waits outside, but then you get bonesawed to pieces for having exercised freedom of speech as an US-based journalist and have to be carried out in a series of suitcases.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

The proverbial horse I’ve beaten to death concerns the famous (non)debate between Žižek and Habermas. The latter sees good faith under assault from “systematically distorted communication.” The former reminds us that we “know very well, but nevertheless.” You decide who is right.
There is no batshit far-right idea that the NYT's "reasonable" conservatives will not launder into polite discourse.

Anti-Blackness is the historical engine that propels basically every form of prejudice since the late fifteenth century. The tendency towards “abstract” (i.e., non-historical) forms of analysis obscures how violence against Black people is the organizing principle of the Western world.
And it's like wow how are Black people existing on bluesky if there's so much antiblackness here. So lesson one of being Black is that everywhere is antiblack. So you just pick your flavor of antiblack & the heat level of the antiblackness.

Planned operations in Venezuela justified by the activities of a mythical drug cartel that the administration insists covertly runs the country. Echoes of the Iraq war.
Trump Team Calls Maduro a ‘Cartel’ Boss. That Word Doesn’t Mean What You Think.

Venezuelans coined a figure of speech for the phenomenon of generals corrupted by drug money: “Cartel de los Soles.” Then the US started talking about it as a literal organization.

British liberal institutions helped to build and fund Christianities in the Global South that combined evangelical zeal with Victorian moral codes and racial hierarchies. Today those same institutions disavow the colonial genealogy of these churches by treating them as “backwards,” which

Next up - reducing women's wages to appease misogynists and making gay people stay indoors to avoid homophobic thugs who like to beat them up.

This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.
