Can someone please explain to me why/what happened, that these dem senators decided to cave like a soufflé at a rock concert.

There has to be a reason they would do something so monumentally destructive.

After over nine months of Trump and his regime inflicting extreme pain and abuse on the country every day, eight Senate Democrats decided to remove one actual moment of leverage and end the government shutdown. Just pathetic.

The absolute worst version of "The Aristocrats" joke.
The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck, fucking mother fucking pricks the lot of them.
How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

The WORST.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

It would cost $38 billion dollars to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies for another year and ensure Americans don’t lose their healthcare.

The republicans said no.

Trump sent $40 billion to Argentina and they didn’t object.

Argentina first, America last.

TRIALS.
CONSEQUENCES.
There had better be trials. And not just for the low-level thugs carrying out these orders, but for everyone up the chain of command.

If we get past this, the solution isn’t to pretend it never happened and invite Stephen Miller to Harvard’s Institute of Politics.

It’s trials w real punishments.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

In “The Battle of Yorktown” in Hamilton there’s a line that says “immigrants… we get the job done”.

At last night’s Hamilton performance on Broadway the crowd erupted into thunderous applause after that line.

The Mamdani effect.

I love you NYC.

As per my last post.
Being annoyed that someone else's health event is taking attention from you is the essence of Trump.

I've seen banana bread look more concerned than the president does right here.

holy shit -- one of Trump's toadies just passed out and the White House event is brought to an abrupt end

Hiring people who are educated in their field rather than TV hosts? What a novel idea!

Good job New York — lead the way!

Thank you, New York City. Together we made history.

Now let’s get to work.

Populist Dems won. Moderate Dems won. We won in blue states. We won in purple states.

Maybe the take is that (a) people think Trump is out of control; and (b) people like Dems when we're taking a stand and fighting for what we believe in - as we have been for the last month.

Mamdani stood up to Tom Homan.

He’s stood up for immigrants, trans people and all marginalized individuals.

A Muslim immigrant has just become Mayor of NYC at a time when the President is doing everything he can to vilify and destroy immigrants.

It’s a huge friggin win.

If Andrew Cuomo is the right choice for fascist, right-wing billionaires, he’s the wrong choice for NYC.

This isn’t complicated.

Not asking these questions makes reporters look like amateurs or worse, acquiescence in advance.
it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"
