I'm walking in the footsteps of La'al Hannah this week. La'al is dialect for 'little'. She was postwoman for Eskdale Green #Cumbria from 1912 to 1973 - only taking 3 days off ill in those 61 years. I'll detail her 5-mile daily route on this thread...

Mum, now 89, has always been a character. Wonderful zest for life. 03.12 on clock. Unusual noises coming from her air mattress. Sound of counting, 1-10. Got up to investigate. Mum had thrown off her duvets. Bare legs going up & down in #February night air. Doing her #physio exercises!

"I declare spring officially - open"
...says the snowdrop

I like the Gaelic seasons - they seem in touch with nature more than the 'offical' ones

Winter (Geimhreadh) - Nov - Jan
Spring (Earrach) - Feb - April
Summer (Samhradh) - May - July
Autumn (Fómhar) - Aug - Oct

happy First of Snowdrop!

Let's talk about those times when a family carer is ill with a bad cold or flu. Not so a GP appointment or hospital visit is needed, but really out of sorts & more support with caring for a partner with dementia would help. #socialcare provision in England is not flexible enough to step in. 1/

Saw this in @wecarecampaign.bsky.social e-mail. Reminded me of sleeping on floor in side room in A&E supporting mum who'd broken her wrist. Very grateful that mum (89) provided with a bed. Staff wonderful & working flat out. Would be great if camp beds available for #unpaidcarers

It's sometimes difficult to wake mum sufficiently to take her #Parkinsons tablets. I get extra anxious cos people with Parkinsons can have difficulty swallowing. But #BarryManilow singing 'Can't smile without you' this morning got mum tapping in time, and ready for her tablets! #carers #socialcare

Yesterday was my mum and dad's #wedding #anniversary. Mum's 89 now. She recognised the date and said they got married in a prefab in grounds of #Brixton #Unitarian Church. 1958 I think. Original building had been bombed during war. Here they are in fancy dress on their #honeymoon in #Bournemouth.

One of my favourite flowers. I believe it is called ivy leafed toadflax. I first saw it, and was utterly entranced by it, when I was six years old. On a wall in Normandy, on a family holiday, with my mum, dad and sister. I stood close to it (it was at my eye level) taking in its beauty.

🌱 I don’t know about you but I love old photos!

One battered old album got me thinking about my dear dad - who first got me hooked on growing food - So I wrote a post

And I would ❤️ to hear who first got YOU hooked on all things gardening!
