Following up on reporting regarding concerns about bioequivalence of generic drugs, @propublica.org has published a tool to look up where generic drugs are manufactured and associated FDA inspection information.

About 2% of people with #ALS have an SOD1 mutation.

Tofersen, an antisense oligonucleotide, improves outcomes in people w/ this mutation, including ⬇️disease progression & ⬆️survival. Some even had ⬆️strength.

A big step forward in treating this awful disease.

1- Behavioral & psychological symptoms of #dementia #BPSD are common, distressing & sometimes dangerous. Pharm treatment (eg, antipsychotics) can have serious side effects.

This RCT suggests that #dronabinol may help ⬇️agitation in #Alzheimers ds (AD).

Misuse of AI tools will challenge the integrity of research in the biomedical sciences.

Cryptographic tools and trust/reputation will only be partially effective.

While deprescribing is a worthy goal, the Beers criteria & STOPP/START may overestimate the rate of inappropriate prescribing - and undervalue older adults' goals of care.

Weight gain, increased blood sugar & elevated blood sugar can be major problems in people with #schizophrenia taking antipsychotics.

This small RCT found that weekly semaglutide injections improved hemoglobin A1c in people taking olanzapine or clozapine.
