Border Patrol “attempted to arrest a plumber working inside a Logan Heights home but left empty-handed after the homeowner refused them entry.

The homeowner told agents she would not allow them inside because the warrant they presented did not include her address and lacked a judge's signature.”

With O'Neill (apparently) taking over CDC (if they ever get around to firing Monarez), I think it's worth looking back to Project 2025 and asking what they actually intend to *do* to CDC. So, I went to remind myself today. Here's what's in store:

Thanks to @saragoud.bsky.social and @thebulletin.org for lending me their platform.

US national security and economic stability are at risk so long as DOGE officials are meddling in codebases they do not understand. The systems must be restored to a known-good state. bsky.app/profile/sara...

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Not sure which is more perplexing-- that the Oakland A's owner is running the playbook from the film Major League, or that it's actually working? 😵‍💫

Tonight's protest game was the most I've ever gotten worked up about baseball.

HRBP chastised me for bringing in a speaker to talk about (publicly available) pay equity laws and sentence starters to ask your manager about your salary range. I'm "making managers' lives harder," she said. To be clear: if a manager can't have uncomfortable convos, they are not a good manager.

Before college, I bought into the myth of meritocracy. I believed that my Vietnamese family just worked hard & earned our advantages, so why couldn't everyone else do it too? I'm tired of Asian ppl being used as a wedge against Black folks to perpetuate white supremacy culture. This is a must-read.
this week: a longer read on Asian America’s historical relationship, from Gold Rush to Harvard, with anti-Blackness, racial solidarity, and the ego-soothing balm of merit. https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/article/myth-meritocracy-asian-americans-ideology-success-17915695.php

The Choctaw memorial in Cork, Ireland, this evening. It was built to commemorate the donation by Choctaw native Americans to Irish famine relief in the 1840s. One oppressed population helping another. Choctaw people can now avail of scholarships to attend university in Ireland.

Phenomenon I was talking about last week on Mastodon:

* If you ask Black folk in the US what the most racist city in the US is, Boston is the usual winner. Yes, including Black folk that lived in Ma.

* White folk feel completely comfortable telling these millions of Black folk that they're wrong🤡

consider that bluesky might be an opportunity to diversify the voices you listen to.
since you have to start fresh with a brand new following list, why not be very intentional about how you curate it? (i say this with the understanding that some people do indeed intend homogeneity in their networks)
