a gallery of aircraft nose art (which is actually on my coffee table rn) and Francine Hirsch’s Empire of Nations (one of the workhorses of my thesis)
alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Bluesky started filtering posts out of your feed without telling you! go fix it!
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

I saw a post on the parent's fb group I'm in about a seemingly stray dog hanging around a park, so I went to see if he would let me put him in the car to take him to check for a microchip. He did and he wasnt 1/2

my company bought out another company and made it its own division of Big Company, and a new coworker who came from that division swore she’d helped that division integrate its practices with Big Company’s AND had helped develop a set of metrics our entire industry used
Enough about Work Husbands and Work Wives.

You ever had a legitimate Work Enemy? Because I’ve had several. I never start with these people and I always warn them. But they never listen. 🫠

me: “I think I might have Can’t Do Things Disease”

the medical system: “you’ll need to schedule one appointment to figure out whether it’s worth screening you, a second appointment with a different person to actually screen you, and a third appointment with yet another person if you need meds”
Them: need help doing things?

Me: yes

Them: we have a doing things medication

Me: ooh

Them: hahahahaha guess what you have to do to get it?

Me: oh no

Them: things.
