No one says to legit business owners, "hey I see there's an underground market selling toxic knock-offs of your product: how will you incorporate the toxic product AND protect your customers against its harms?" But apparently it's fine to make this suggestion to educators with respect to AI.

Thanks, Jon, for amplifying. We are profoundly concerned by HUD's plans to gut permanent housing funding with this year's NOFO. It isn't too late to get it rescinded and revert to their original plan to provide a second year of funding.

it won't get as much attention because the U.S. press doesn't care about infrastructure, but the Trump admin is also threatening to withhold billions of dollars in infrastructure bill broadband grants if states pass laws focused on making broadband affordable or try to enforce net neutrality
Yesterday, an Executive Order designed to prevent states from regulating AI within their own borders was leaked. If signed, this Executive Order would establish an AI litigation “task force” at the Justice Department to threaten, harass, & sue states that pass any bill deemed “unlawful.”

AI does appear to be rapidly accelerating human selection of the fittest….

except it’s doing it by straight-up killing people who rely on ChatGPT to plan dangerous trips, not by improving human cognition like the techbros want us to believe:
