How does the brain track patterns 🎶 in a noisy world 🔊? How does it choose when to reset its memory and when to carry it forward?

We provide some answers in this new work by @kahomagami.bsky.social that I co-authored with @mariachait.bsky.social, Marcus Pearce and Edward Hall!

Three times today I had an incident with some dude who either decided I have to buy him something or he should be able to grab my ass.

Both which I have no tolerance for and went about as expected.

I am convinced I'm going to get stabbed at some point in the next 4.5 years.

I got my first job at 12. That eternally exhausted feeling appeared shortly after, and I don't think it has gone away since.

Just me? Probably just me.

Anyway, I could use a 5-year nap.

Watched her curl many times over the years. Such a legend and a beautiful soul.
Colleen Jones asked me to interview her a couple of months ago during a chemotherapy appointment.

She told me to write one heck of a story. I hope I did her proud.

About always believing something wonderful is about to happen.

I can't speak for the American system, but in my experience with students, the biggest issue is often cultural.

During covid and the labour disruption, the university as an institution made it clear it was not on the side of students. In a system that's often adversarial, it's difficult to also

Really good article that applies some of the research in a practical way.
We often turn to music as a way to relax and recharge, but research shows it can also improve our ability to solve divergent thinking problems—a core element of creativity. Here are some practical ways to harness the power of music in our daily lives.
How Music Can Energize Your Creativity
We often use music as a form of entertainment and relaxation. But it can also be the key to more creative thinking, no matter the task or challenge.

This is highly concerning.

Not that I'm surprised. If Albertans have demonstrated anything it is that there is not, in fact, any consequences for politicians.

Corruption, illegal acts, dishonesty, and any other gross behaviour is simply ignored as long as they say a few "f*CK Trudeau's" after.
We caught the UCP red-handed.

We asked Public Safety & Emergency Services for any correspondence between Min. Ellis & the Edmonton Police Commission.

They told us - twice - there was none.

We asked the Commission & got 130 pages including 5 letters signed by Ellis. #abpoli

"They didn't vote, so I don't have to listen."

This is quite the thread.
And then there were 9.

6 new recall petitions have been approved against UCP MLAs, with the information now posted to the Elections Alberta website

Joining the mix are MLAs Myles McDougall, Ric McIver, Muhammad Yaseen, Rajan Sawhney, RJ Sigurdson +

Lack of services at night and the long hours of single lane are a huge problem.

The 17 has more services at night when going from Kenora to Toronto but the same safety issues.

This is complicated by really poor cell service or none for long stretches.

Not a trip I'd recommend in the winter.

I happened to get home just as the Paul McCartney concert let out. Took almost an hour to get the three blocks to the parkade at midnight.

Any bets how bad the Junos are going to make the traffic? 😂

It is wild that I'm in a city where those events are.

And I can't afford to go to my backyard 😂

I love how helpful my profs are and how willing to help they are, but I seriously struggle keeping all the different preferences straight.

Especially when they conflict.

Mostly when they conflict with what we know about memory and attention.

If people understood how much the of the justice system relies on social factors, they'd have a lot less faith in it.

Never talk to the cops, people. Always ask for a lawyer.

But how do jurors consider autism diagnoses for juvenile defendants accused of violent or nonviolent crime?

I've noticed a trend on FB of general interest pages (ex. Goth clothing, travel pages, band fan pages) that intersperse anti-immigration, science denier, and obviously fake political and news posts among their regular posts.

No idea if this is new or not, but it's smart. And dangerous.

Given Saskatchewan is yellow, this seems a little off.

I doubt the population of the whole province has yet to tip over 1m people.

It does love it's right wing extremists tho.
And MAGA is still convinced that Twitter proves that their shitty movement is widely supported in the US 🙄
