Immigration judges with prior immigrant defense work make up the largest share of those fired by the Trump admin. NPR identified 70 fired immigration judges. The changes have at least shifted perception of fairness in these courts

Just so we are clear: ICE went into a day care center—a private business—without a judicial warrant, and unlawfully kidnapped a worker in front of parents and children.

Mr. Juarez worked for more than a decade at a Trump Organization golf club in New York.

His eldest son, 20, is stationed at a military base in California, where he serves in the Marines.

All his children are U.S. citizens.
NEW: How ICE mistakenly deported Alejandro Juarez to Mexico.

Alejandro was detained in NYC, put on the wrong ICE plane and sent to Mexico.

He never saw a judge, no deportation order - a likely violation of law.

“Apple, Google, and Meta were under no obligation to remove these apps,” says @alexabdo.bsky.social. “If they did it because the DOJ threatened them, even implicitly, that’s a First Amendment violation. The government shouldn’t be able to behave like a mob boss in going after protected speech.”
The federal government "jawbones" private companies by pressuring them to silence voices they can’t legally censor themselves, and Big Tech has erased ICE‑watching apps and an ICE-Sighting Chicago Facebook group.

Thousands of other people are going to get put into detention of indeterminate length with far less recourse, which could stretch years.
