IDK why right-wingers keep bringing up Obama's record deportations, it just shows that if you wanted to have a conservative immigration policy without partisan militias occupying cities and gunning people down in the streets you could do it and a lot of americans would be fine with it

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

A lot of Dems are going to take Bovino and Noem being fired as the finish line, and it's very important to make it clear to them that it is a starting line

Who’s next?

One demotion cannot detract from accountability.

Greg Bovino and Trump’s agents must still be held responsible for the killings and the damage they’ve done to America.

The people on the streets are doing their part, but it is up to Democrats to hold the line and follow through. The DHS funding bill cannot pass in its current form, and there must be real constraints and accountability for DHS moving forward.

Bovino is just the patsy - a noxious and odious fall guy. Stephen Miller is the architect and prime mover of the whole thing. Everything they do is at his direction - often after his threats. As long as he runs policy in the WH, nothing will change no matter how many Bovinos come and go.

Sports!
For any elected official who needs to hear this, I impart a lesson learned from the NFL:

When the other team is tired and on the back foot, you don’t call a timeout so they can catch their breath. You grind their fucking face into the dirt until the final whistle blows and you’ve won the game.

If Stephen Miller is still in the White House, that means the white nationalist gameplan is still all systems GO.

What we're witnessing is just window dressing and distractions.

Tom Homan is just as bad as Bovino, but less openly Nazi.

Keep your eyes wide open.

Looks like Greg Bovino is the chosen fall guy as the Trump admin scrambles to navigate the anti-ICE backlash. Reportedly being "forced into retirement" and denied access to his social media accounts.

Don't accept it for a second. Keep pushing for full accountability.

Hell, the admin is beyond authoritarian, and "fascist" is the right word for many of them, including Trump, but yes, the point is that we are not living under fascism and all is not lost.
For this observer it seems that people want you to commit to saying “we live in a fascist state”
Fwiw, I think you’re right to say that’s not the case, as words matter, and it would cheapen the word
Although I think it’s safe to say that the admin is showing authoritarian tendencies- increasingly so

"I would have done the same" is sticking with me because basically everyone I know would have done the same. He wasn't "protesting," in any meaningful sense. The secret police came to him, to his neighborhood, and he was just out there trying to help others get through it.

It should freak the American people out that Trump, Noem and Bovino lie so enthusiastically. He wasn't "brandishing a weapon". He wasn't attending a "riot" or "interfering in a crime scene". He was an ICU nurse exercising his constitutional rights.

We saw what we saw.

2/ There is a difference between paramilitaries and cops. It's training and mentality and culture.

As bad as cops can behave, these guys are much more dangerous because of their training and culture.

After a sweeping, Republican-led review of more than 2 million voter registrations, Utah election officials identified just one apparent noncitizen in their voter rolls — who never voted. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
Utah reviewed its voter rolls for noncitizens. It found one. Who never voted
The results sharply undercut the narrative of widespread noncitizen voting Republicans are using to promote new nationwide restrictions on voting.

New, from me: Defenders of police abuses will sometimes talk about “bad apples” spoiling the barrel.

This is the wrong metaphor for ICE and CBP. The barrel itself is rotten. 🧵

On this MLK Day, his words feel less like history and more like instruction. Progress isn’t automatic. It’s built by people who refuse to stop moving.

Let’s rise to this moment together.
