Let’s have a look at a crazy Twitter to newspaper pipeline story and debunk as we go! 🔎👍🏼

16th Nov the “Britain is Broken” account shared the following post claiming “Tesco are no longer celebrating Christmas”

With a picture of their “Evergreen” Trees

It blows my mind that there are real people who see a post like this and actually believe the whole “Christmas is being cancelled by Muslims” BS 🙄

Let’s have a quick look at what’s happening to Sheffield so you can put your Express reading uncle’s mind at ease!😆

No - the school classrooms were NOT used to teach “adult migrants”

Your own article explains this TWICE - and yet your headline…?🙄

I covered this yesterday in a thread when it was just RW accounts lying on Twitter

Now the DM are on it, let’s go again!

🚨Small boat migrants getting “private health care” while the rest of us have to use the NHS?!🚨

That’s outrageous!

Or is it?

Might the reality be a little more mundane and a little less clickbait-worthy?

Let’s take a 👀

😱Sounds outrageous?

You know the drill…

If it sounds outrageous and designed to trigger you into being angry with “other” people, then you need to do some 🪏

I’m just going to say as someone who lived in London for eleven years and is currently seriously considering going back precisely because of the far right theocratic fascism of Trump, that he’s talking out of his fucking asshole.
Trump to the UN: "I have to say, I look at London where you have a terrible mayor -- terrible terrible mayor -- and it's been so changed, so changed. Now they want to go to Sharia Law ... both their immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe."

The Right hacked our collective attention since 2015, this is a well-documented strategy, and we keep falling for it ever since.

"Gay immigrants are stealing children and giving them autism".

And that's the one thing everyone talks about for days. That's why you feel exhausted.

the thing i'm worried about is whether AI will decimate the "flow states" of knowledge work. i realize this is very selfish. i enjoy being in a flow state. i don't want to constantly be babysitting an unlearning intern who repeatedly violates instructions. even if they eventually produce good work

Last week the Express ran with the following front page.

So obviously I had to take a look!

Is it true?

How does it compare to other professions?

Because anyone familiar with British RW media discourse knows they reserve a special venom for civil servants…🤷🏼‍♀️

Following Farage’s announcement that he plans to make “serious cuts to the welfare budgets” if he wins the next election, I’ve seen this claim being repeated from last year’s headlines again.

So let’s take a look at the the reality rather than the weaponised version

I thought BBC journalists and government ministers were able to distinguish between correlation and causation.

But sadly not.

Minister warns parents on school attendance ahead of new term
It comes as data shows children who missed some of the first week of school were more likely to be persistently absent.

Seeing some politicians competing for just how brutal and dehumanising they can be to vulnerable minorities - I can’t help comparing that to 16th and 17th witch trials. It’s so depressing.

My advice to car alarms would be: go off if you're being burgled. Not at random, for three minutes, seven times a day.

How AI is breaking traditional remuneration models
It's been a busy few weeks in the AI and copyright beat, and while I've been following all of the developments closely, I haven't had the time to react to everything in the blog. However, with two first decisions handed down in the US, and one in the UK expected soon, it is a perfect time to start looking at the subject from a long-term perspective.
