You never know when a small word at the right time may change things. Apparently, a text I sent to these amazing young people’s mom help start them on their journey (explained in the article) www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/14/c...
West Chicago brothers are on the front lines against ‘Operation Midway Blitz.’ And they’re only teenagers.
The wave of youth activists who have been galvanized into action by “Operation Midway Blitz” follow a long tradition paved around the world by young activists.

“The pace of oppression outstrips our ability to understand it. And that is the real trick of the Imperial thought machine. It's easier to hide behind 40 atrocities than a single incident.

But they have a real fight in their hands, don’t they?”

I can't stress Chicago's amazing restraint enough. We are showing up in impressive numbers, but not physically attacking these bullies, despite constant provocation. In EVERY situation I've observed in Chicago, ICE attacks protestors first, often without any discernible tactical reason or warning.

As a Mennonite, scratch that, as a moral human being, I cannot disagree with this enough.
Hegseth: "As history teaches us, the only people who actually deserve peace and those who are willing to wage war to defend it. That's why pacifism is so naive and dangerous."

If there’s one thing all Americans and Canadians across the political spectrum seem to agree on, it’s that broad, uninformed statements about and caricatures of the Amish and Mennonites are cool.

remember folks, we cant have gun restrictions because if we do the federal government will occupy our streets, imprison people without due process, ship dissidents to foreign gulags and things of that nature

No one in Chicago that I know is asking for this. But they are preparing for it.
Trump on DC: "We haven't had to bring in the regular military, which we're willing to do if we have to. And after we do this, we'll go to another location and we'll make it safe also ... Chicago is a mess. And we'll straighten that one out probably next"

When Lincoln Jumped From a Second-Story Window to Dodge a Quorum
Americans have been gaming quorums — the minimum number of qualified people who must be at a meeting in order to conduct business — since day one.

The American Revolution was fought over lack of representation by the governed. Extremist gerrymandering is an attempt to strip representation and disenfranchise millions. We need a National solution to insure every person has proportional representation in their governance. #gerrymandering

Today is Pentecost. It’s considered the birth of the Church.
Followers of JC were hiding from the national guard when the Holy Spirit came & inspired them to speak in many languages and fellowship w/ foreigners. Then they shared everything they had and no one was hungry.
Meanwhile, U.S churches…

I made this for yesterday's #HandsOff protest in Chicago, and it seemed to amuse people

-Early estimates are ~30k in Chicago. Not bad.
-Organizers didn't seem prepared for that many b/c they asked people to (checks notes) SIGN UP?
-Protests in small towns in red states were most heartening.
-Many black friends stayed home. I get why, but hope its not permanent. We need them.

It's clear that the Trump administration denied due process to the migrants it banished to El Salvador *precisely because* any measure of judicial oversight would've proved their innocence immediately.

We’re Finally Seeing the “Evidence” Against the Migrants Deported by Trump. It’s Unbelievable.
The Trump admin said a soccer player had a gang tattoo. It’s a tattoo of Real Madrid’s logo.

1. In reading this @zackbeauchamp.bsky.social piece on Russ Vought broadcasting years ago actions he might take if he returned to power, just want to note an interesting overlap between his thinking and that of the Doug Wilsonverse — which recently defended Vought. www.vox.com/on-the-right...
The obscure manifesto that explains the Trump-Musk power grab
Russ Vought, Trump’s OMB director, wrote an essay in 2022 that reads like a blueprint for what was to come.

This story caught my attention for a couple reasons. 1. I'm very pro-vaccination. 2. I'm Mennonite. 3. And I've also had measles. An explainer thread (1/4): #mennonites #vaccinations

www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...
In rural West Texas, a measles outbreak grows with no end in sight
At least 49 cases have been confirmed. Health officials — who are scrambling to get a handle on the vaccine-preventable outbreak — suspect 200 to 300 people may be infected.

In the coming weeks, a lot of slow-on-the uptake folks are going to begin belatedly realizing Trump is both an inept moron and a dangerous autocrat. Our great civic challenge in these trying times will be calmly welcoming them aboard instead of primal-screaming in their faces.
