"Well, it’s a lot of it is fun. A lot of it’s horseshit. When it gets to be more than fifty percent horseshit, I’ll quit."

That's a GREAT quote from the Splinter, and exactly where I am right now. Today's MLB is over 50% horseshit, so my interest just isn't there.

I wish people would just tell the truth about the situation here instead of using lies to prop up a system that benefits like three or four teams and shafts all the others
on player salaries, operations, MiLB operations, etc. They could all afford a team outlay of $120-150M year and still make a sizable profit in most cases. Teams like the Pirates & Orioles have been printing money for years as they have received money from the league pool in large amounts & kept 9/

It's the Hall of Feelings, as it has been for decades

What would be "a lot cooler" is more people giving a shit about who's actually deserving based on how they played baseball
The Hall of Fame just got a lot cooler. Dick Allen and Dave Parker; heck yeah.

My philosophy on relievers in the Hall is this:

Relief pitchers don’t belong unless they are generationally elite.

Mariano Rivera yes

Everyone else who pitched during his career run, no
Interesting debate here and within the quoted tweet between Lewie and Mark on RPs and the Hall.

One thing that I think gets overlooked is that if we are to believe RP is a unique position, I think that the typical stats used to evaluate SPs are insufficient. (1/2)
Not dunking on Mark but this is a great articulation of why relievers get looked over for the HOF.

An elite third-down back probably gets a chance to play more downs. Impact is a function of skill.

An elite closer usually stays in the bullpen. All you can do is pitch your ass off in the IP you get

If the Kings can't avoid getting their asses kicked by a last-place team, it might be time to take an honest look at things & make appropriate changes

Share 5 of your favorite baseball players of all-time except none of them can have overlapping MLB careers.

Sandy Koufax (1955-66)
Andy Messersmith (1968-1979)
Greg Brock (1982-1991)
Dave Hansen (1990-2005)*
Matt Kemp (2006-2020)

*-Hansen had 7 at-bats in 1990, I don't care, I'm not excluding him

Clickbait from a certified wanker.
As we consider the Cy Young ballot tonight, consider this, too: Zack Wheeler, who has 103 wins, might just be what a Hall of Fame starting pitcher looks like now -- no matter if that's not what Bob Gibson or Walter Johnson looked like.

Wheeler isn't just an ace, he might be a Hall of Famer
When the results of the NL Cy Young Award balloting are released on Wednesday, Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler is highly likely to find himself with a top-two finish. Regardless of whether he wins, take a...
