I know it’s only just spring but I can’t wait til summer nights. When the air is thick and tho sound travels, it catches and hangs over you. I want to sit by the lake just before dawn and hear a train catch in the air, accompanied by the crashing waves. I so love the world at 4am on a summer night.

One thing about adulthood they don’t tell you is that you can still be “a pleasure to have in class;” it’s just that your report cards turn into to H&Ps from doctor visits and the phrasing is a little different.

Acknowledging that I am still an artist no matter what percent of my income comes from art was honestly life-changing. Such a crucial truth.
I've said it before and I'll say it again for everyone in the back: there's no shame in having a day job as an artist. Artists have had day jobs since the beginning of time. It's the norm, not the exception
The thing full time music taught me was that it was terrifying to live on that edge, and that it wasn't conducive to making art. I was forced to take worse gigs and any unexpected expense screwed everything up. See also: sarahpinsker.com/blogs/blog/p...
