RIP Jimmy Cliff. Was fortunate enough to see him live in 2012, years later stayed at a Jamaican resort run by the family that made THE HARDER THEY COME so this resonates with me a little deeper than usual
Jimmy Cliff, Jamaican reggae singer, actor and cultural icon, dies aged 81
Star of The Harder They Come had hits including You Can Get It If You Really Want and I Can See Clearly Now

So far the Newsboy Legion is good Golden Age silliness plus there’s a “CHEESE IT! THE COPS!” panel which made my day

(and yet I wonder—how do I even *know* this phrase? Looney Tunes?)

I love that every generation has the same Tom Jones experience. "Oh this guy is corny as hell" to "Okay this guy is corny as hell but it's fun to laugh at him" to "Okay this guy has bangers" to "Okay this guy is a generational talent and a complete fucking genius."

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Was in Belgium visiting family/sightseeing and was lucky to get a taste of Belgian comics culture in Brussels.

Visited the three floor (with comics library!) museum, saw a few comics murals, and picked up a few albums for myself.
