Good luck with that.
Somebody is briefing the Times that the Home Secretary finds inspiration in Kristi Noem's leading the Trump mass deportation effort - which has gone much too far for Americans

Extremely jealous of Americans who have a country big enough and empty enough to be able to buy a plot of land in a forest for $7500.

Even a cursory glance at the numbers of Asylum claims we recieve in the UK shows the idea that our 'generous' system (hahahahahaha very funny joke) is attracting claiments is bullshit.

Under these plans my Grandad who arrived in the UK as a refugee after surviving the holocaust would have lived under the threat of being deported to the country where his extended family was exterminated if the government of the day decided it was now “safe”.

I just think what this is missing is that income tax is going up under Labour and people already feel that a bit and will feel it more by the next election.

Labour's 'not touching, can't get mad' approach to raising income tax can't work, won't work, is part of why they've lost trust.
Too much analysis was still treating breaking the tax pledge as “just another unpopular decision” rather than recognising consequence of breaking a promise which defined an election for the public. If is correct the govt won’t now break it they may have avoided a deeply scarring loss of public trust

You can understand though; why if they broke their tax pledge now, it might help the ‘economy’ but it would also run the risk of making the government and the prime minister toxically unpopular and running well behind in the polls

The concept of emotional labour (or at least how it is often used) it a pretty negative one.

Commodatising being a normal, and decent, human
Recently I've seen a lot of "I don't owe you my emotional labor to chat about the weather or ask if you found everything you're looking for" complaints. And yes, small talk requires emotional labor. That you aren't being compensated for. Except in social currency, and we really do need social currency

The smart thing that Elon Musk has figured out is that engagement algorithm driven social is a radicalisation engine and turned it up to 11.
X is designed to radicalise people.

The algorithm promotes Elon Musk's agenda to promote racists and people who want violence bought - specifically - to the streets of Britain.

Members of Parliament, major institutions and the media should not be there.

Maybe it’s because I’ve entirely swallowed “neoliberal” ideological hegemony but it seems incredibly obvious that there are millions of centre right voters on the table for a party that wants to win them.

It actually is mind blowing to check out X and see what is essentially 4chan which is also populated with politicians, media figures, "thought leaders" etc.

A dystopian horror, really. Where neo-Nazis now have equal standing with mainstream leaders. There is a reason Fuentes is now so mainstreamed.
The authoritarian takeover of X was a harbinger of the regime’s strategy for America at large.

Bluesky is a perfectly adequate refuge for X exiles. The biggest problem with Bluesky is that so many political and media elites are still on X. That’s not Bluesky’s fault—it reflects poorly on the elite.

The thing I don’t understand about Labour’s political strategy is its policy is wildly left wing by modern standards but it spends all it’s communication efforts trying to appeal to Reform voters.

Ok I do understand it, it’s just obviously stupid and failing on its own terms.
“There is a progressive majority available that can defeat Reform and Farage ... But I think the moral of the story is that until people feel change, and feel that we are delivering change with Labour values, [they] will not turn out and support us” - Health Secretary Wes Streeting, Sunday Times
