Just finished this engaging—and disturbing—book. It documents how most energy “transitions” are such that older energy forms aren’t replaced, they continue to be used to support the newer forms. It proposes no clear solutions, but it’s a thought-provoking read (despite not having an index!).

Today the company announced its Series A fundraising round, pulling in nearly $14 million to commercialize the technology. Pretty cool.

When @alonlevy.bsky.social and i started working together, we both thought that a wall of text with a picture and maybe a chart/table was advanced design. We know that’s wrong. We attempted to take our NEC work and add some good design. We are very happy with how this came out: nec.transitcosts.com

I couldn't agree more. This is why I don't get mad at people biking on sidewalks, as long as they are careful and respectful of pedestrians.

And yes, I do ride on the sidewalks as well when I don't feel safe, especially when a motor vehicle parks in the bike lane I rely on for safety and comfort.
Every sidewalk bicyclist is a vote for protected bike lanes.

Cecosesola And The Art Of Commoning Within Capitalist Markets - PopularResistance.Org
One of the most singular and accomplished commons I’ve ever encountered is Cecosesola, a federation of Venezuelan cooperatives. The remarkable federation artfully manages multiple ventures as commons while deeply immersed within a system of capitalist markets. Founded in 1967 in the state of Lara in Venezuela, Cecosesola got its start when working-class people in poorest barrios of the region organized to set aside money every month to build their own cooperatives. G Nearly sixty years later, Cecosesola now coordinates a wide variety of enterprises. It works with farmers to supply 800 tons of vegetables to large urban produce markets serving 100,000 people a week.
