Public transit is rarely on City Council's mind when any vehicle-related topic is discussed. Was the role of public transit raised in relation to street space and parking? Was there a thought to directing a portion parking fee revenues to transit services? #Charlottetown #PEI #transit #parking

#Firefighters and #paramedics should loudly support transit-only lanes (which, despite the name, are open to emergency response vehicles).

We make transit fail because we prioritize car journeys more.

Toronto's expanding rail network looks nice on map but the disconnect between Lines 4 and 6 is a real problem, and it will get works if 6t ever starts running faster than the bus it replaced.

I warned them about this years ago.

Grid cities need grid transit networks.
As of tomorrow (Sunday, February 8th), this is what Toronto’s TTC network will look like. Can’t wait to ride Line 5 Eglinton (Crosstown LRT)

Such a bad news day. We should be investing more in public transit. It's the real way to cut emissions and make life more affordable for families.

So the Carney government has indeed cut $5 billion specifically earmarked for transit while not being transparent about it. This key message from the minister tries to get around that.

This would have been money to help get people out of their cars. This government is climate unfriendly.

If only the Canadian government invested as much time, effort, and money in a transit-"industry" policy.
Is there no argument for shifting from personal vehicle to mass transit (bus, train, tram/streetcar) manufacturing?

Those transit agencies that have seen the fastest return of ridership and growth since 2023 are often those who have embraced more inclusive service design, and every agency should do this because it’s simply the right thing to do.
When cities are built with women in mind, they become more liveable for everyone.

A fairer planning approach that promotes a universal right to access the city, and considers every aspect of human life, from infancy to elderly; not just those in the so-called productive stage.

Four tricks for faster bus boarding

- More doors overall
- Multiple boarding doors
- Ticket validating and ticket purchasing machines separate, so that one person buying a ticket doesn't hold up the line
- All machines placed well inside the door, so person using the machine doesn't block the door.

In 1925 the Tampa Electric Company’s streetcars carried 80,000 riders a day along 53 miles of track, serving a city of of about 80,000 people.

What problem does this intersection really solve, and what are the benefits or drawbacks?
Could another solution deliver the same/more benefits at a lower cost?

I was just thinking that it would be cool for there to be a "Transit Planning 101" workshop for advocates and interested folks, so get the basic understanding if what planners do and what they need to consider when making schedules, routes, etc. I think it would help transit advocacy immensely!
Currently at a crossroads thinking about long-term plans and I’d love to shadow a transit service planner sometime. I’ve been fascinated by service planning since I was a kid and learning more about their day-to-day work would be really helpful! 🚌🗺️
