“Los Angeles descends into a moment of nervous silence as the curfew begins & troops keep watch over the people’s most sacred gathering spots… but with the rebels scurrying through the streets, how long can Ghoram stay quiet and will the Emperor have the city pacified before the Olympics next sol?”

Tony Gilroy has really done America a huge service by cleverly reminding audiences how fascism slowly constricts freedom through what appear inevitable consequences.

Once I had to drive from Santa Monica to Dodger Stadium and I left at like 4:45 PM on a Friday and it took me longer to get there than it used to when I drove from Hartford CT to Boston.

I think it's worth mentioning how totally the mood switched the INSTANT the cops weren't around

When people weren't scared of getting gassed to shit

When the whole city started cheering

Cops make protests more violent. Every time

Los Angeles is not a war zone. We are not descending into chaos and lawlessness. We’re a great city full of good people. We don’t need the National Guard.

I am on the other side of the world from Los Angeles and I just heard a news grab on our national radio station of Maxine Waters telling a cop "Are you gonna shoot an elected representative? If you shoot me, you better shoot straight" and she remains one of the best to ever do it

Another thing to mention for people who don't live in LA.

Most of LA is very chill and peaceful right now. There's a huge Pride fest going on, countless farmer's markets, tourists walking around, families at the parks, people walking their dogs.

It's a big place.

One of these photos is how HBO's The Watchmen depicted a fascist police force back in 2018

The others are real photos of the ICE agents who are rounding people up and disappearing them in Boston, Denver, L.A., and elsewhere

Saturn: Um, yeah. I still don’t quite feel safe.
If you need a breather from all this bullshit, here's a photo of Earth.

From Saturn.

We're that slightly brighter star at centre right.

I think maybe this analogy will only make sense to me, but this feud is like if Tom Brady’s Patriots played Dallas in the Super Bowl. The only thing I’m rooting for is injuries.

My granddad put it best:

"Black people don't want police. Black people want DETECTIVES."

If you understand the difference between these concepts, you understand what "Defund the Police" was really demanding.

A good super power would be the ability to move parked cars so that the available curb space was used efficiently.
