Simply. YES.
Vancian magic system just does not fit 5es intended design goals, and the conflation of character level and spell level is obtuse. - Dragonbane's point based system is sooo much better, also offering verisimilitude between classes, and offering more interesting choices in combat while intuitive

Apologies for yucking someone’s yum, but this part of the video—specifically where they are laughing about how scary a rules-as-written Kaiju (Tarrasque) is for max level super heroes—is just a huge turn off for me

I've been LOVING Monolith lately, have an intermittent group that is going through Gradient Descent using Monolith. Gets really hard to differentiate between the name of the game and the BBEG 😂
I like the “Heavy” and “Unwieldy” item tags in Monolith. They pair well with the Basic OSR Principles that Yochai Gal posted the other day

Oh my goodness, THANK you! I've been mulling this over for quite some time. I personally LOVE OSR exploration and emergent narratives! Improv roleplay activates my neurons like CRAZY!
I dont like the term "story game" because that should refer to things like storycubes or other "story creation" games, not roleplaying games. I prefer the term narrativist, especially because "narrativist osr" isnt a contradiction and god knows we see enough of stuff like that
