Unfortunately, that’s the wrong position. *Specific* AI learning models have very useful cases (MRNA vaccines being a particularly notable one), but when it comes to actual “general intelligence,” the technology is snake-oil peddled by conmen.

Almost 20 years ago, a doctor on TV was asked, "Isn't 12 a little early for a kid to be deciding to transition?" And her response was, "It's old enough for them to decide that it's not worth living anymore if they can't."

Yeah, if the CIA or the NSA or the FBI wants to surveil you, they're going to surveil you. But all that wizardry is expensive and time-consuming and very few people are ever enough of a priority to do it.

Everyone, absolutely everyone can make it *very inconvenient* to surveil them.

Man, really enjoying being here instead of The Bad Place, but what I wouldn't give for a client that actually remembered where I was in the feed when I restarted the app, so I could actually read my chronological feed, well, chronologically!
