At the in-laws for Thanksgiving and it’s truly breathtaking how shitty movies look when motion-smoothed. It’s like the visual equivalent of someone farting in a room. Drives you right out.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

“woke” is when you acknowledge that black people have contributed to the united states
Two panels commemorating the contribution of Black American soldiers towards the liberation of the Netherlands in World War Two have been quietly removed from a cemetery in Limburg. It follows a complaint by right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission.

Indeed. Supranationalism (which is NOT repeat NOT the same as federalism) was the point from the very beginning.
And why? So France and Germany would never be at war again.
People who call that small can, respectfully, p*ss off.

(Also glad for people like David who explain this stuff.)
One thing I am exploring in what I am writing is how the UK treated EEC/EU as an international organisation while all along it was a supranational entity.

And the supranationalism was there from even before the EEC, in the ECSC.

The daughter just passed her driving test. A big deal since neither I or her mother drive. Not something natural to her.
Now to work on getting her a car so I can have a personal driver 😉
Need some trips to the Black forest, Germany, for a short film I'm working on

Despite the headline it’s not George RR Martin personally going for them cos he’s rich and famous. It’s all of us.

The test case used his work, but it’s about the plain-as-day issue that ANY generative AI ignores and infringes copyright, by passing off.

That’s a win for basic law.
Judge rules George R.R. Martin and other authors can sue OpenAI for copyright infringement

• Said ChatGPT generated 'Game of Thrones' content similar enough to infringe copyright

• OpenAI’s motion to dismiss was denied

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.
