One of the clearest, logical thinkers and strategic communicators on why Russia must not win - and why Ukraine needs more support, not more pressure to sign a deal that favours Russia.
We still need to get from a situation where Russia pretends to negotiate to a situation where they need to negotiate.

Honest question. Is this:

Culture war

Stupidity (honestly believing that isane BS about wind threatening natural security)

Corruption (payments by the fossil lobby)

Enjoying power abuse

Something else

There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt.

This is simply false.

- UN: solar ~8x cleaner than gas, ~19x than coal per kWh
- panels repay CO2 in 4 months; save 57x over life

Well we're where the models say we should be. Which is bad enough. The models indicate that warming stops when emissions reach zero. So we've got to get off fossil fuels as quickly as possible. In that sense, it's very simple!

Here's the latest model/obs global temperature comparison (through March 2025, via @hausfath.bsky.social). Interestingly, El Niño-spiked 2016 is a bigger outlier than (also El Niño-assisted) 2024/2025 relative to the simulation ensemble.

Atmospheric CO2 has passed 430 parts per million.

The last time atmospheric CO2 was at 430 ppm was during the ancient Pliocene Era, three to five million years ago, and humans didn’t exist.
