Always make sure you have non-alcoholic drinks to offer that aren't water too. As someone who doesn't drink, it's a real bummer when water is the only option.
Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Y’all. We GOTTA get better at commenting on/reposting things we like over here. Likes are nice but comments and reposts are what get good shit to other people on bsky. Don’t forget that!

Make your fandom creators’ day a little brighter by leaving a little comment or hitting that repost button

Impossible how good reading is. You mean I just point my face at the paper for a bit and it does a whole update on my brain?

Quote of the day from my WIP The Missing Mortimer:

Jimmy had been pretending not to listen to this exchange, but he couldn’t help but notice the way Ellerslie’s eyes slid distastefully in his direction at “sordid little secrets”. And that was a rudeness that he wasn’t going to stand for.

And yes, vaccines help…lessen the severity if and when you do catch them. They aren’t sterilizing.

That doesn’t mean they’re unimportant. It just means they should not be your only layer of protection—and certainly not your family’s.

Mask up in the germ tubes and the places they stop.
We always see a surge of infectious disease, including COVID, RSV, etc etc around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Unless you want to gift your fam with a few weeks sick this year, mask up as you travel!

I have two things I would really like people to internalize about the fashion industry/garment manufacturing, and they are:

1. Mass manufactured clothes are only ever intended to fit "good enough," and;

2. Everything you wear was made by actual human people.

2 ongoing convos are dovetailing rn:
1. a holiday shopping $ blackout aimed at big business;
2. worry over small presses closing or paring down.

Let's talk direct action: YOU CAN DO BOTH😀

IT'S VITAL TO SUPPORT indie pubs that encourage risk & diversity. Here's a 🧵 of em you can support directly:

Now this is how to start a history book. A Wiltshire story teller 1890s.

"There were a time, 'tweren't in my time, neither in your time, nit (nor yet) in anybody else's time; 'twere when magpies builded in old men's beards and turkey-cocks chewed bacca”.

If someone knits or crochets you a blanket or sweater, they want to keep you warm AND they dedicated many hours of their lives to making it for you.

There's no profit in fiber arts, not when you can get a machine made at Target for 30 bucks. So know fiber artists making for you? Is an act of love.

During the Great Fire of London in 1666, Samuel Pepys buried some of his valuables before evacuating his neighborhood, which notably included a wheel of parmesan.

(Yes, he did safely get his cheese back)
Man, everything is so bleak, anyone got a fun fact or little bit of trivia they want to share
