housing & transit are climate issues 🥑

MAYBE if your car is free, your gas is free, your maintanance is free, and your parking space is free.

But wait! NONE of them are. Car-brained foolishness. 🤦🏻‍♂️
If I take a bus downtown and back it costs me $4.50.

If I take the 'L' downtown and back it costs me $5.00.

If I take Metra downtown and back it costs me *at least* $7.50.

If I drive downtown and back it costs me zero dollars.

Remind me again why we should feel bad about changing that last one?

Can we please NEVER let them forget that they stormed the UNITED STATES CAPITOL?

I don’t know that I’ll ever not be angry, sad, mortified, and disgusted that it happened.

Housing policy is omni-policy and not just for the obvious adjacent areas. Yes it’s climate & transit. It’s also income inequality, public safety, education, immigration, disability, geriatric, conservation, & healthcare.

Build the damn housing!
Housing policy is climate policy
[any policy issue] okay but you understand. this is about the price of housing

This SURELY couldn’t reflect the mass expansion of bike lanes…😏
Fascinating to see how fast Paris cleaned up its smog pollution.

Equally fascinating: how this same graphic has been making the round from French via German to now English meme status

Perimeter blocks with single stair buildings 🧑‍🍳🤌🏼
Now for Bluesky, the courtyard block argument:
Modern cities have failed to provide housing for ordinary families. The solution is courtyard blocks, which are uniquely capable of providing residents with the “big house with a yard” but scaled for urban density and commercial integration.

Evil landlords w/ Trumpian BS when caught fixing rents, "This Administration should stop scapegoating RealPage's legally compliant technology for housing policy failures & take care to not stifle the innovation that will strengthen America's economy, now & in the future."

A mom just came in SO EXCITED to find a map store bc her son would LOVE it.
She tries to be coy. "My son is... Really into maps. Real special kid."

I'm like, ma'am, this is a map store. Half my customers are on the spectrum. I have a trains and transit section. You're among friends.

SF can help folks with asthma by cutting down on what contributes nearly 50% of emissions—personal vehicles.

If you care about transit you should PAY YOUR FARE during severe deficits.

Even climate activists refuse to buy a ticket to ride Muni
SFMTA says fare evasion is on the rise, and is hiring new enforcement officers to battle it. Unfortunately for them, fare-dodging is an SF tradition.

Earthquake in SF! And all I can think about is…

One of the unsung heros of Vancouverism is that the pedestal/thin tower dynamic is GREAT for earthquake zones. 🧘🏻‍♂️

New housing ≠ more expensive city

Growing economy + no new housing = expensive city

Housing production should at a minimum MEET demand. In expensive cities, it should exceed demand.

SF’s progressive supes advocate outsourcing city services to private entities. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sounds… Republican. It replaces good paying unionized city jobs with a ton of ununionized non-profits.

AND these orgs…get no-bid contracts AND get to give political money?! 🤯😡

Times are changing! Despite a long history of redlining and NIMBYism, Berkeley elects a YIMBY mayor and rejects anti-housing, anti-bike candidate. 🏠🥑 🏠🥑
