I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

You did not see this kind of statement from the Turkish central bank before Erdogan staffed it with sycophants because he had carefully laid the groundwork to do so without resistance over the course of 15 or so years. And then once he did do it, inflation went from 10% to 86% in two years.

I was adopted via closed adoption, born in North Carolina.
It was closed so I have no knowledge of or access to my biological mother’s details. It also means my biological mother isn’t on my birth certificate.

OMG. According to two members of Congress that just conducted an inspection and confirmed horrible conditions at the ICE detention center where unrest led to 4 people escaping, apparently people were able to escape because an EXTERIOR WALL was made of drywall and wire mesh!

New analysis from @budgetlab.bsky.social: if you combine the distributional impact of tariffs so far with CBO's new OBBBA distribution, the bottom 80% of households see a decline in income, and the 9th decile is close to neutral. Only the top 10% see a clear net benefit.
