Labour MPs condemn Rachel Reeves’s ‘unacceptable’ welfare cuts.

Labour MPs and Peers must oppose (I won't vote for it) this strategy.

There are numerous alternatives to hitting the poorest.

Mobilize opposition. Seek face to face meeting with your MP. Ask your friends/family to do the same.

More evidence of harms inflicted by private equity on US healthcare.

Usual pattern: profiteering, hiking debt, low investment, poor patient care and safety.

Yet UK NHS being handed to private equity without any evidence, 30%-40% public money vanishes in profits. Money buys less.
The latest on the harms of private equity in health care
Three reports have been issued in January on the harms of private equity in health care. Journalists should keep up with that they say.

Thread. The damage these fuckwits are doing around the world is incalculable.
In Cambodia, half the operations to detect active cases of tuberculosis have halted.

They estimate it has led to around 100,000 people missing screening, 300 drug resistant TB cases going undiagnosed, and 10,000 drug susceptible cases going undiagnosed.

So it turns out they spent £715 million on sending a grand total of FOUR volunteers to Rwanda.

For comparison, this is more than you could expect to spend on building an entire brand new hospital in the UK
In July, I FOI'd the Home Office for the full breakdown of spending on the Rwanda scheme

I was refused because the government planned to publish the data in future, and today is the day. These numbers are in millions

- average wages down 2%
- the richest 10% took 37% of all GDP growth
- the poorest took 2%
- this income gap grew by 50%

But look: yet more stick. Carrot remains unused.🧵
