Now is a good time to learn about the imperial boomerang. It's the idea that imperial governments will eventually use the repressive techniques they learn abroad on their own populace. The term comes from Aimé Césaire when they were studying European fascism.

ProPublica has identified the two Border Patrol agents who shot Alex Pretti: Jesus Ochoa, 43, and Raymundo Gutierrez, 35.

Reporter @davidmcswane.bsky.social says naming them is "in the public interest" and in keeping with longstanding U.S. norms.

This is the department of homeland security trying to erode your first amendment right. Essentially saying someone said he has a dissenting opinion and therefore needs to be labeled a domestic terrorist and monitored. If they can do this do we actually have a right to protest?

Cam Higby is boasting about “infiltrating” rapid response chats in Minneapolis. By their nature, the chats are unvetted and operate on the assumption that feds/agitators are in the chats.

I found the account he’s using in the chats.

In fact, he exposed it himself.

He’s going by “Wild Wings.”

I remember when I was in a history class in high school. We were learning about world War 2 and I brought up that my japanese grandmother was in a concentration camp and my teacher flipped out. People think it could never happen here despite the fact it clearly already has.
Concentration Camp: a prison or other facility used for the internment of political prisoners or politically targeted demographics, such as members of national or ethnic minority groups, on the grounds of national security, or for exploitation or punishment.

This is the man who stole and destroyed the property of unhoused people for a photo op. He doesn't give a shit about political violence he just cares about his shot at the White House.

For me it was Newsom's murderous policies toward unhoused people, putting him signficantly far to the right than even LA city politicians (which is saying a lot).
see for me it was his *transphobia* as a tool in his blatant political opportunism. if you’re willing to embrace that, that’s your journey i guess, but it won’t be mine
Many progressives are hesitant to support Gov. Newson because of his obvious, blatant political opportunism.

When blatant political opportunism works in your favor, embrace it.

Politicians are tools. Use them properly.

This is the circular logic of people with no ideals. I won't defend it, so the opposition makes it unpopular. The opposition made it unpopular, so I won't defend it. It's how you get led around by the nose.
In a leaked recording, State Senator Elena Parent (D-42) said she’d vote for Republican transgender healthcare bans because trans rights are too “unpopular."

Israel has destroyed the last remaining hospital in northern Gaza.

We have witnessed the total decimation of Palestinian healthcare, met with silence from political leaders who refuse to acknowledge the horrors they have enabled.

Of course, they feel your pain. They feel it with every dollar in their back account, every claim denied, and every doctors order circumvented. They'd be fools not to understand what their business does. They've just decided your pain matters less than their bottom line.
New UnitedHealth internal memo (leaked to me) suggests the company is undertaking an empathy offensive. "We know the health care system isn’t perfect,” the message says. "There is more work we can do and must do..."

When budget cuts are discussed, remember that the pentagon has failed 7 audits in a row. Why should social services suffer when, and because, they can't say no to military spending?
LOL: Congressman says "we have to have the stomach" to cut Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare but when asked about cutting the military budget, suddenly he's opposed.

Q: Do you believe the defense budget should be cut?

Rep. Rich McCormick: "I'm not a big fan of that."
