Economists should be quite clear in their interpretation of jobs numbers going forward. We cannot let the media add a simple caveat to next month’s numbers. This is serious. A high quality media would investigate any and all differences in surveying, responses and analysis from this moment forward.

It’s now clear that those of us who told everyone this would happen— because we understood American history and how tenuous our democracy and institutions are— were not hysterical, overreacting, or fear mongering. We saw a White supremacist agenda for what it is. And we were right. Absolutely right.
This is an assault on the Reconstruction Amendments by a Neo-Confederate Court wedded to the far-right argument that those amendments were illegitimate and destroyed the original intent of the Founders, which was to create a white man's country

Boelter is apparently facing federal charges. Which opens to door to a presidential pardon if convicted (if not before). There should be a state prosecution here to make sure justice actually gets served (and so evidence re motive is not selectively presented to conform to predetermined narratives)
holy shit -- acting US attorney Thompson details that Boelter went to the homes of two other elected officials after shooting Hoffman but before going to Hortman's house. One cop encountered him at the third house but thought he was a police officer.

When a cabinet member announces "We are using the military to liberate an American city from its elected leaders," where do you go from there. What is left to say. The idea of that being anything short of a near-universal "Wait, what the fuck is going on" moment proves how far we've backslid.

You do not have to say “pro vaccine groups.” You can say the vast majority of doctors and scientists and the American Medical Association.

The way @nationalacademies.org has bent the knee has been one of the biggest disappointments from orgs that should know and be better. They've capitulated at every turn and predictably have still had fed their funding dry up. TRB is basically walled off and has still chosen to stand for nothing.

I cannot stress enough how much of a Def Con 1 moment this is. Federal judges fear that the President of the United States will stand down security for judges in retaliation for adverse decisions.

This is such a huge story.
This should be seen as evidence of the crisis: federal judges fear that Trump will order U.S. Marshals to stand down on securing the safety of judges whose decision they don’t like. This is just devastating.

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?

Pete Hegseth and Mike Waltz should lose their jobs for this unprecedented security breach, and I expect responsible leaders like @repangiecraig.bsky.social and @smith.senate.gov to call for their immediate resignations.
The Trump regime's national security leadership accidentally included the editor of The Atlantic in their communications about military strikes in Yemen. Really.
Just because they're cruel, criminal and fascist doesn't mean they're competent.

For Democrats, whats the issue? what is there to talk about? DOGE putting Social Security through a meat grinder and not just canceling your checks and breaking the system but looking at all your personal info, tossing it into their AI & possibly emailing it to their friends. Rinse, repeat, forever.

1. The Adminstration ceases ALL of its illegal activities, and

2. Reverses all its illegal activities to date.
