I'm teaching a new class this semester and this week's unit has been on Global Civil Wars of the 19th Century. We're looking for links (actual, symbolic, or imagined) between civil conflicts in Latin America, the U.S., the Revolutions of 1848, and the Taiping Rebellion. Wherein I learned that

I'm at the point in the semester in my "Disaster History" class where we talk about the climate crisis and regret to report that for yet another semester there is at least one Econ instructor here who is, wittingly or not, spreading climate denial talking points to impressionable students.

Trump’s ICE goons raided a damn daycare.

Just had an absolutely awful day and can't express how nice it feels to log on and see good things for a change, in the elections that I forgot were happening because of the aforementioned awfulness.

I've finally got around to curating a selection of films about the #climate crisis 🎥

There's lot of mediocre climate films out there, but for me these stand out head & shoulders above the rest 🎞️

They make excellent resources for classrooms, lecture halls, or community cinema's 🎬

When a sitting president releases a video of himself defecating on the American people, that’s not “satire.” It’s a public humiliation fantasy and an erotic performance of dominance.
