We’re not accepting complaints about the Hunter Biden pardon unless you also complained about the Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn, Roger Stone, and Paul Manafort pardons.

I remember. Appoint someone blatantly political, and the system will push back.

But this time, it will be a race to see if the long claw of fascist autocracy can grab hold and inflict great damage before the system can self correct.
Recall what happened with the FBI when Nixon politicized it by appointing Patrick Gray director. The rank and file leaked, leaked and leaked up to the assistant director (aka Mark Felt/Deep Throat) level. They destroyed Nixon. Trump is inviting big trouble with Kash Patel.

When people started talking about the last mile, they were talking about inflation stalling out above 3%.

The last mile goal posts have moved down a little bit to the 2.5% to 3% zone.

Trump’s market-sensitive and less-than-enthusiastic-about-broad-tariff advisers have alternately suggested a tiered system where security partners have low/no/reciprocal tariffs or where tariffs are phased in over time to avoid market disruptions.

Core PCE came in high (as expected). The last mile thesis has gained strength over the last several months as 12-month core PCE is now up 2.8%. You might say that includes outdated, lagged data. But 3-month is also a 2.8% annual rate.
