Border Patrol Agents Pose At The Bean For Apparent Photo Op
The photo op came after agents tear-gassed a Little Village street and were spotted in the area numerous times. At the Bean, one agent shouted, "Everyone say, 'Little Village!'"

Excessive militarized ICE raids and misuse of the military will not make Chicago safer, writes Sen. Dick Durbin.

If this is true, I expect this will be an ugly week. These fascists will want to generate more splashy fascist propaganda for their IG reels before Bovino moves on.
Federal immigration agents part of the Trump administration’s “Operation Midway Blitz” may soon leave Chicago, according to multiple sources who said the controversial mission was rapidly winding down after a contentious two months of enforcement raids that have set the city and suburbs on edge.
Federal Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino and agents said to be leaving Chicago, sources say
Cmdr. Gregory Bovino was expected to depart Chicago within days, while most Border Patrol agents under this command would soon be redeployed elsewhere, three sources told the Tribune Monday.

There are subtle but strong cognitive political links between the aftermath of the George W. Bush administration and the ascendency & stamina of the Trump administration.

The Bush administration started a whole-ass genocidal war AND built a shitkicker panopticon based entirely on bald-faced lies.

Thinking about when Willie Wilson said police “should be able to chase them [anyone who runs from police] down, and hunt them down like a rabbit,” and Paul Vallas wanted to “take the handcuffs off police.”

Everyone’s getting to see what that looks like in practice now & they don’t seem to like it.

DHS regularly posts faces, names & personal details about journalists & arrestees to social media, often accompanied with inflammatory, dehumanizing language & false accusations.

They freely expose everyday people to personal security risks, while claiming their armed fed agents live in terror.
Hedges asks if Hewson had any hesitation about testifying today.

Hewson says he did. "I'm continuing on this mission wherever it goes," he tells Hedges. And, with his face and name exposed, that "could eventually lead to a doxing event or harm come to my family."

This reminds me: A few CBP agents were recently overheard complaining about how much they *hate* the whistles. Apparently, in addition to the obvious, the racket makes it harder for them to communicate with each other.
Listening to CPD radio traffic from something last month and can hear the whistles in the background.

A central part of ICE's strategy here is to keep detainees hungry and thirsty in squalor to incentivize them to sign self-deportation papers to escape their inhumane conditions. And of course, they also lie to their captives about what they are signing.
Agustin Zamacona, who speaks and reads English, further says an agent in Broadview tried to get him to sign a self-deportation form by telling him it was court paperwork.

"I saw they weren't court papers, they were for deportation, so I didn't sign it," he says.

The liberal conceit that our political economy can serve both the whims of the investor class and the needs of the labor class has ultimately led us to the shitkicker fascism of Trump and MAGA. A financial transactions tax *can work*, and it will cause no harm to anyone, not even the fat cats.

After having slept on it, I’m validating my post-town hall gut feeling that Chicago’s entire budget crisis is a perennial farce as long as the interests that profit from its existence are allowed to keep their skimming games completely untouched by those of us trying to mitigate their damage.
I’m at a ward town hall hosted by my alderperson, and it’s about the impending city budget. During the Q & A, I asked - as I’m wont to do - about the level of political will in the city govt for pushing the state to allow us to levy a financial transactions tax on our city’s several exchanges. Well.

A bunch of newly activated people in Chicago need to read this. A troubling number of people believe the police "are on our side" because they have largely followed the law and orders they've been given about not helping ICE. The police will never be "on our side." Sometimes, they're just reined in.
