At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!?

Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

This man won one of the largest majorities in UK electoral history, is a white guy who was a prosecutor and prior to the election was beloved by basically all sections of the press. The fact he's been unable to use any of this to achieve anything is incredible.

Mamdani built a mass movement in NYC around actual progressive policies. Meanwhile, establishment Democrats (who refused to endorse him) are praising a mass murdering war criminal.

Your regular reminder that if you love audiobooks you don't have to support Amazon or Spotify to get them.

Xigxag and Libro FM both exist, with the latter even sharing profits with independent bookshops.

For fucks sake, can people just quit it with their addiction to Amazon, Kindle & Audible?

(I know AI is going to be a big part of this too, you shouldn't be using that either).

My rough view of fascism's rise 🧵

There are always reactionaries, in every human society

They disproportionately benefit from early phases of new media technologies because mis/disinformation helps them and institutional and cultural antibodies haven't been developed

This is what Israel is. And so long as we arm and otherwise support them, this is who we are as well.
Greta Thunberg: “Israeli soldiers hit, kicked, starved, and tortured me”

• They placed a flag next to me, and anytime the flag touched me, they kicked me
• Whenever I raised my head to look at Ben-Gvir, I was kicked
• She was filmed while stripped naked

"A library in every school" may conjure up a library, but (as usual): £132.5mln / 1700 primaries = ~78k per school. A starting school librarian earns ~£21k a year, and you haven't (re)built a space or bought books or an inventory system.

So not a library then, just some shelving and books.

He’s fine where he is, regional mayor getting Manchester more choo choos. Nowhere’s really a safe seat anymore for Labour on this polling so he can’t just parachute in either. Sounds like these dipshits should’ve planned a little bit harder than “people like Andy”
Burnham: MPs want me to challenge PM.

The Labour right didn't spend years ruthlessly attacking & undermining their own party & ushering in Boris Johnson & hard brexit, all in order to regain control of the party, just to hand it over to Andy Burnham. #GMB
