It’s probably a surprise the most people that Spain has the second largest high-speed rail network in the world, behind China

What does it take to move 1000 people? Better infrastructure supporting mobility choices that don’t take up so much space (or produce so much emissions/pollution, cost so much public money, etc).

We’d be better off focusing less on the presence of a transit route and more on its frequency
Raleigh increased bus service from every 30 min to every 15 min on its route serving Glenwood Ave. Ridership then doubled in the year that followed.

Over last year, city’s high-frequency routes have had 89% ridership growth.

People will ride when you give them service that they can rely on!
When does the next bus come? GoTriangle reduces wait time on its busiest routes
The regional agency joins GoDurham and GoRaleigh in offering bus service at 15-minute intervals between Durham and Chapel Hill.

Pretty cool that Ski Lake City provides a ski resort-like rating system for some of its main bike routes
Update: took the hard route home. Like: it relates to the local ski culture. But seems like you don’t need a sign to tell you this is decent climb.

This is so fucking disturbing.

That is all I have to say.
I don’t want to say I immediately had a visceral reaction when I saw the DHS post but … yeah… I did …

Right on cue with the fascism.

This is extraordinary work by @dbeekman.bsky.social and the @seattletimes-rss.bsky.social on the history of the waterfront and its reflection of the city along it.

I love it includes photos and videos from archives that I’ve never seen before.

When asked about Vision Zero Bruce Harrell emphasized his 16 years as an elected leader. 16 years of doing as little as possible is an odd thing to boast about

Harrell: "I’ve been elected for 16 years."
Seattle set our Vision Zero goal 10 years ago and since then the injury and fatality rate has gone *up.* Bruce won't fix this in the next 4 years.

Moulton: It turns out the U.S. Army is not great at doing Soviet-style or North Korean-style parades, because that’s not what people sign up to do…

Imagine how much veteran housing you could build for $40 million. You could help a lot of vets with that kind of money.

And this parade helped nobody.

Stop terrorizing kids!
BREAKING: Federal agents in plain clothes and unmarked cars tried to snatch 1st graders from LA elementary schools—told staff they had “parental consent.”

They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.
