What does it mean for DOGE to "make mistakes" with seniors' Social Security?

Long wait times, underpayments, or no payments at all.

The richest man in the world is sticking his fingers in the benefits our seniors have paid for their entire working lives.
DOGE is driving Social Security cuts and will make mistakes, acting head says privately
The Social Security Administration’s acting commissioner said members of Elon Musk’s cost-cutting team are outsiders who are unfamiliar with the nuances of the agency’s programs.

“And though the Trump administration says it is carrying out the will of the people who elected him to office, barely half of Republicans want closure.”

So, that begs the question, whose will is he truly carrying out?
Trump reportedly set to order dismantling of Education Dept.
The long-awaited directive comes as the agency is preparing to lay off likely hundreds of employees and just days after Secretary Linda McMahon took the reins.

I can’t imagine working hard through multiple administrations to be a career civil servant just for someone to come and take it all away with just a few keystrokes.

For many, civil service was their path to the American Dream. Shouldn’t they have a fair shot?

We are working on launching an ALT DOGE website. It will soon feature a team page listing all of Elon’s staffers, our own wall of receipts (tracking the money he’s taking from America), and a section to help Americans keep tabs on the false claims on Doge’s website—which now exceed 52%.

“What good is low unemployment when workers are a paycheck away from homelessness?”

Working and homeless should be an oxymoron, but in the US, it’s a reality. This is a brilliant and important piece.

Same. My question is who is gonna be around to clean it up?
I just keep thinking when he's breaking things at this pace, what happens after everything is broken?

The comments section 😂😂😂

The survey questions are wild!
I’m somehow on a Heritage Foundation mailing list (😂) and they sent a survey to see what we think of DOGE.

Who wants to offer some m-fing feedback?!?

Vaccines made measles outbreaks very unusual. What we’re seeing is not normal.
RFK JR on Measles Outbreaks just now: "It is not unusual. There are measles outbreaks every year."

It is actually very unusual. This is the first Measles death in the US in 10 years.

We’ve all been lied to. About so many things.

What’s interesting to me is how people respond to the realization. Some folks accept that they were lied to and move accordingly.

Others dig in deeper and deeper, even at their own expense.

I’m curious about why this happens.

Billionaires don’t need tax breaks.

Especially not at the expense of people needing to eat, receive healthcare, and be sheltered.

I think I need to write something about this…

Despite evidence that telehealth reduces barriers, promotes care continuity care, and promotes health equity, Medicare’s telehealth services will be significantly reduced.

Taking my daughter to at least one library playgroup each week is invaluable for her development and my social connections.

Libraries are where it’s at 🫶🏾
Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and the services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend money is so important to so many people
