@ttcalerts.bsky.social @ttchelps.bsky.social can someone explain how the ttc apps get their info? This stop has been completely and consistently wrong for more than a month and the LED sign inside the stop is wrong too.

Nothing says "Canadian Unity" like a Smokey Sunrise as western wildfire smoke covers Toronto and the rest of eastern Canada in early June while our leaders stump for more oil production in an effort to make it year round.

That feeling in your eyes is the itch of climate change.

Great thread to help remember that voters’ priorities don’t always line up and aren’t always consistent with the parties they support!
I'm a Anglican White man from Ontario with a further education, aged 75.

Healthcare is my top issue.

I prioritise jobs over the environment, I support more energy sector help, I oppose more free trade, and I support current immigration levels.

Canada sits at a hinge point of history, and we will need to reimagine the country to deal with our new reality, and it is bewildering that every party, and every leader, is pitching tax cuts. Our would-be leaders need to rise higher to meet the moment. www.thestar.com/politics/pol...
Bruce Arthur: Canada’s next leader needs a bold vision to reimagine the country itself — but no one is meeting the moment
We must reinvest in this country in a way we haven’t had to in generations, and we need leaders who truly grasp the magnitude of the task, Bruce Arthur writes.

YES. Canada's immediate future is likely going to be defined by a need to greatly bolster our military and intelligence apparatus, support workers affected by the American tariff war, deal with the effects of climate change, build housing at scale, and much more.
I agree with Emmett. One party is promsing a 1 point cut to the lowest income tax rate; the other 2.25 points. Neither has proposed a credible way to pay for it.

We need to see credible plans for big economic challenges and big defence/security threats.

Hope that will be coming soon.
At a time when Canada needs MASSIVE investment to transition away from the US, to build new facilities and transpo towards our ports, to rebuild our military, to build HOMES, to rebuild science and post-sec ed... to see the two main parties jump on *tax cuts* for their campaigns is depressing.

Really hope the federal gvmt and the provinces don’t sleep on this opportunity to invest in our future. This is about the only moment where post-secondary related election promises would actually land!
Spurred by “alarming political interference in academic research by the Trump administration,” Brussels’s Vrije Universiteit (VUB), or Free University, allocated $2.7 million in funding last week for at least 12 new postdoctoral roles open to “censored Americans.”

Easy to lose this in the noise of the day, but the prime minister of Canada just said the US president, leader of the global hegemon, wants to soften us up economically so he can annex us.

That is one of the most remarkable statements, and realities, in our history.

If Canadian universities had a bit of vision, they would be launching a Manhattan project to poach every US-based top researcher. And the federal government would be drastically expanding tri-council funding and creating an expedited review process for those holding NSF and similar grants.
