There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

“Our democracy is too precious to be a plaything for foreign tech barons.

“Musk doesn’t care about the British people or our rights. He only cares about himself and his ego.”

1. Terrific that a US politician is holding Farage to account for his free speech hypocrisy

2. Why can’t we do this in the UK??

3. Farage lies in this clip - claiming he doesn’t ban journalists from Reform conferences. I’ve been banned from the past two.
Democrat @raskin.house.gov excoriates Nigel Farage for banning journalists from Reform UK events:

"I'm asking you a direct question. Why do you ban journalists who oppose your views from coming to your events? Why did you tell local government not to do interviews with your local newspaper?"

"Our obligation to house people is a statutory duty," he wrote. "It is essential that we meet our obligations"

Want a summary of the bills/acts the Labour government have been working on since they came in power?

I've put one together here.

44 bills, 24 of which have got Royal Assent and become law.

You can see when each bill passed each stage in each house. I've highlighted those still progressing.

It seems that many people haven't realised the truth about Palestine Action.

And some seem happy to both mislead others to think it's all about some paint on a plane, while purposefully conflating the proscribing with a ban on legitimate protest about Gaza.

But that is not the truth...

Once again: the fact that academics have to do often the basic job of journalists (providing accurate information to the public, when it isn't even demystifying their claims) speaks volumes about the level of democratic crisis in this country (there is no democracy without a well informed public)
The Times has got some basic legal points wrong. There's no requirement for visa waived visitors (such as UK citizens) to have travel medical insurance. Nor is there a requirement to have a return ticket, just the means to buy one (or being in a position to acquire such means lawfully).
Strict rules for British tourists going to EU to come in within weeks

Passengers will be asked a series of questions to confirm they have proof of accommodation, sufficient funds for the trip, medical insurance and a return or onward ticket
