Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

There is something so sweet about the human capacity for enthusiasm. For a few days everyone in LA has been glued to Watch Duty and getting in the weeds of how water drops work. Now there are people out here who honestly have a favorite water plane that they are following closely and rooting for.

While we’re banning books…

Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar.

Today's short thread - wicked historical women, because not everybody's granny was a saint, right? 1st up, the Duchess of Sutherland, who ordered vicious evictions on her estates during the Clearances. There's a memorial to her in a pub in Partick, where she is named on a urinal. 😂 /1

My friends - perspective. This astonishingly beautiful image is the planet, Mercury. The universe is vast and we are a blip in time and space. Spend your very limited time easing life for our fellow creatures - big & small.

A handful of billionaires now have unprecedented control over banking, the food we eat, the health care we can access and, now, the information we receive.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

I don’t think you can negate the mind-boggling number of disinfo farms sowing chaos at the other place. It’s impossible to know the impact of the constant stream crap designed to divide the public into warring camps.
“It’s important not to have this place be an echo chamber” is something that sounds correct but falls apart when you realize it actually means pretending arguments done in bad faith are genuine. It’s the “I’m just asking questions” of social media
