The irony in this is that charges will still apply and all the vandalism has done is force people to either use the app, or face a penalty notice.

What an own goal by protesters.

Despite being a bizarre pantomime, it is worth seeing whether you can do this, as a member of the public, at your local council meeting. We can at 3 meetings a year.

It’s an opportunity to get something on the agenda, push for some answers - and see the council in action.
Asked a public question at our local council meeting this evening (about enforcing parking regulations - woo!) - it’s such a bizarre pantomime with no space for any real engagement, but it does seem like the council is finally committing to enforcing the parking restrictions.

Lack of free parking will not be the correct answer.
Our North East high streets matter. That’s why this spring I’ll launch a High Streets Commission to work with local people and experts to begin to revive local areas create opportunity in our neighbourhoods.

Would these same Cllrs make the same argument to people who travel from rural areas to work, when people want to add more lanes to the road?

Thank you to Greater Manchester Police for helping keep vulnerable road users safe from this.

There's a reason Tesla Cybertrucks are not legal in the UK and Europe; Cybertrucks present acute dangers to pedestrians and don’t meet European safety standards.

The vehicle has been seized.

I had a discussion with gent about this when I said "excuse me", instead of ringing bell.

He understood the can't win argument, but I think it depends a lot on the emotional intelligence both rider and pedestrian.

Of course, this issue would be mitigated with protected, segregated infrastructure.
Cyclists cannot win. For every "I want you to ring your bell at me" there is an equal and opposite "How dare you ring your bell at me"
My petty gripe: I just want one ding from speeding cyclists. How hard can it be?

As they say, "EVs are not here to save the environment, they are here to save the car industry."
Government guidance published on providing cross-pavement, on-street EV charging.

This feels like creeping privatisation of the public realm and if the charging connects to a particular home creates unhelpful assumptions about who stores their car where. 🧵

What a difference having a parking enforcer just standing in front of a school makes during drop-off/pick-up today.

Yes, there were still people driving in front of the school, but the road actually felt safer than having people parking on those yellow zig-zags.
