I don’t see any way in which social media was not a net geopolitical boon for autocracies, yeah. They can flood our information space with industrial scale bullshit, augmenting the already trust-eroding properties of social media and just block the shit at home. It’s extremely bad.

I had to politely argue with at least two or three MDs about PreP circa 2016. They only knew of the drug as treatment for HIV and it took me pulling up the FDA authorization press release for Truvada to convince them lol
~2017, had a doctor tell me she "didn't believe in PrEP", and that my body would "acclimate" to it, so it wouldn't be effective if I did get HIV.
I told her I was not a retrovirus, so I was not worried about my (imaginary) reverse transcriptase acclimating to anything.
Had to get the Rx elsewhere.

If there is one thing I wish abled people would get the fuck over believing, it's the idea that doctors are current on cutting-edge scientific research, information gets from theory to practice near-immediately, and if you have a problem your doctor will tirelessly search for answers.
