If there was ever a symbol of why we need to get big money out of politics, reform campaign financing, stop conflicts of interest, and tax great wealth, Elon Musk is it.

Kudos to Susan Crawford on this big victory for democracy, labor rights, and reproductive freedom in Wisconsin.

Thank you, dear Keir Starmer, for hosting this important meeting.

Two key messages:

First, we need a lasting peace in Ukraine.

But it can only be achieved through strength ↓

I had missed this today. Though I am not sure whether *anything* could prompt US to revisit its position re: Ukraine membership in NATO. Washington already blocked it under the Biden administration.

Amazing to see Reddit become a forum of solidarity and resistance among federal workers today.

If you need a dose of hope, read all the comments of federal employees vowing to hold the line and their oath to serve the American people.

The story of this first week is corruption. Billionaires seated on the inaugural stage in front of the cabinet, crypto pump and dump, and the illegal firing of IGs. The media is acting like this is too chaotic and bewildering to interpret, but they are just afraid of sounding shrill. It’s corrupt.

Rubio’s confirmed that Ukraine is going under the bus. He says it’s a war of attrition, the “dynamic has changed” (it changed cos the West didn’t give support). And he talked of “historical underpinnings”. A view he shares with Putin.

Delusionists in London said Rubio wd be safe pair of hands etc.

I read Jonathan Alter’s biography of Jimmy Carter a few years ago. It was simply amazing how he never stopped going 100% in all that life offered: learning to downhill skill at 62, climbing Kilimanjaro at 64, picking up snorkeling at 90.

RIP.

Jimmy Carter, who died a 100 years old today, told his nation the truth in 1979. People did not want to hear it, they called it the "malaise speech", and they voted him out for Reagan. But Carter was right about the wrong turn the country had taken - and about the need for a new energy economy.

Four corporations control 70% of retail grocery sales in America. Kroger and Albertsons are two of those corporations.

Less competition means more opportunity to price gouge.

This deal was a rotten egg.
