Nothing convinced me more that the Constitution is meant to change and grow with us than reading the arguments had over ratifying it in the first place. Not a single man who supported it would be ok with only 15 changes to it in 200+ years since the 12th amendment.
When the Constitution was up for ratification, a critic who had rejected it and left Philadelphia, had this to say about the flaws in the construction of the presidency. Now Section 3 of the 14th Amendment is the only protection we have against this prediction of monarchy becoming true.

A document all high school seniors should read before they vote for the first time. I'd also love to see it appear regularly in a box on newspaper front pages, and become an election-year staple of social media. We also need to remember it for/on our 250th birthday.
Makes me sad re-reading this amazing letter from ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox sent to high school seniors in 1994 after they asked him “What should Americans learn from Watergate?” 20 years later in ‘94.

His answer is remarkable—unfortunately things didn’t work out so well in 2024.

The future of journalism is incredibly bleak. An industry already in crisis now faces this + heightened legal threats + the “nonprofit killer” bill + tariff-induced cutbacks in household discretionary spending. It’s existential. If you can, please support journalism now, before the worst hits.
Brendan Carr, Trump's FCC chair pick, is signaling his intention to punish broadcasters that the incoming administration believes has been unfair to them.

He's doing something else here, too: he's discouraging broadcasters from critically covering Trump moving forward.

The chief executive of Delta Air Lines says the incoming Trump administration will be a “breath of fresh air” for airlines after what he called government “overreach” under President Joe Biden.

Things people do not like, non-exhaustive list:

1. Algorithmic feeds generated by recommender systems for “maximum engagement”
2. Advertisers
3. Being the product
4. Elon Musk
5. Extremist trash
6. Being abused online

So it’s pretty easy to see why Bluesky has taken off.

That "intellectual diversity" and "free speech" were trojan horses for right-wing power-grabs has been obvious from the start and I remain disappointed how many supposedly rational folks took bad-faith actors at their word.

If it’s late in the season, and Mike Tomlin needs to beat a last place team, they have no fucking shot

Such a predictable Tomlin loss.

I don't know what the need is that keeps driving me to say this but I can't stop dwelling on this. 76.5 million people in the United States of America voted for a rapist criminal for President.

I did not vote for the rapist.

When the colleague feared a riot, P5 responded, "Make them riot" and "Do it!!!"
