The kids filled me with pride as they sat by my side
In the Q&A after the screening
And they waited their turn as the relic went round

In case you wondered, there's probably exactly one person who has licked the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Now more than ever
This is likely the greatest day in my mediocre posting career and once the full flush of it wears off, I think I will wrap it up, at least for the summer.

Years ago, I asked my parents for a pasta machine. I meant an Atlas pasta maker—the thing you crank dough through and then cut to length. They got me a tricked-out "automatic" pasta maker where you pour the flour, egg, and water in the top and it mixes and extrudes it. It does both of those badly >

Zohran: "Buses should be fast and free."
Hochul: "I know you won, but no. Also, we're building Trump's pipeline through Queens. Also, we're going to set up an all-male used tire sanding plant in Hunts Point to provide them good jobs and all the PM2.5 they can ingest."

Can we get Josh Shapiro to do his Obama impression long enough to explain how insurance works?

I watched Peter Watkins's Evening Land last night. It's great, and I tried to get at why in a thread.
Finally got enough of the Danish autotranslated to make my way through. Watkins can handle the cops-and-kidnappers pulses effortlessly, but that timeline exists against a stymied, gummy political temporality that seems inevitably bent toward stasis and then rightist reaction.

One of JD Vance's few deeply held beliefs is that payday loansharks are good. It has long separated his vicious politics from the savvier populism of his rightwing peers.
The Flex Loan, a new type of payday loan pioneered by Advance Financial in Tennessee, allows residents to borrow up to $4,000 at a 279.5% interest rate.

It has burdened low-income borrowers while generating huge profits for lenders.

Husted is a Southwest Ohio guy, like Vance, like me. I am too old to be shocked by the fact that we live surrounded by ghouls like this, and yet I am.
Anyway, vote Sherrod Brown.
AUDIO: Last month, U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) told conservative radio that when it comes to fighting to weaken Medicaid, "I love doing that kind of stuff."

We go live to Dershowitz's Escherian attic office. He is ranting into cloudy Logitech 4K webcam. He reaches up, his hand grabbing an old-timey WC pullchain, and yanks. A cascade of pierogi descend. It is endless. Like Ivan the Terrible bathed in gold or W.J. Hammond buried in wheat, he drowns. FIN
