For my first feature for @latimes.com, I talked to director Clint Bentley, his writing partner Greg Kwedar, and Joel Edgerton about TRAIN DREAMS, an intimate epic I'd encourage you to see in theaters before it hits Netflix later this month: www.latimes.com/entertainmen...
From a quiet story about a logger, they knew they could build an American epic
Filmmaking duo Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar tell low-key stories about dreamers. Teaming with actor Joel Edgerton, they went into the woods and emerged with something poetic.

Enjoying some organic Audio Narrative Content as the two girls at the table behind me—who have skipped class to study together for an upcoming quiz—realize that the quiz is, in fact, happening right now in the class they skipped.

Little Murders was a flop on Broadway and a flop as a movie and it is amazing. (Streaming on Prime) I saw it for the first time in June. In Q&A Elliott Gould said that Jean Renoir(!) had written a letter to Alan Arkin praising the film. Here's the letter, as read by EG on the bluray commentary track

1. Several million people are about to learn the term "transference."
2. I always thought that what Daniel Paul Schreber really needed was a front-facing camera.

New 4K Restoration! Celebrate the 45th anniversary of Frank Ripploh’s TAXI ZUM KLO (1980) with our LF3 limited engagement.

Unapologetically explicit & deeply personal, TAXI ZUM KLO shattered taboos upon its release + remains a landmark of queer cinema.

Had dinner outside at the sidewalk rotisserie chicken joint before an evening screening of TWO WEEKS IN ANOTHER TOWN and they played the entire Meat is Murder album. No amount of cops, cybertrucks, or poorly done dermal fillers will change the fact that L.A. is the greatest city on earth.

Channel surfing through various dogshit B-movies while I wait for PAIN & GAIN to come on at 10:15pm like I'm a goddamn civil war re-enactor
Watching linear television in 2025 feels like going to a ren faire. Like I'm "watching" a "program" on a "channel." Wait never mind now Pluto is showing me a commercial for Brendan Schaub's podcast what the fuck

No offense to Mr. Pizzaballa, but it's extremely weird to imagine the possibility of a Gen X pope. The pope is supposed to be guided by voices, not out here having opinions about Guided by Voices.

Trying to decide what the best part of MEN OF WAR was. The full suit of samurai armor? The revelation that the failed Venezuelan coup scheme was launched in a Miami WeWork? The Spanish-language cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World? Impossible to say.

I won't pretend I know what's good or cool or appealing but I am 100% bullish on Hermann Hesse's NARCISSUS AND GOLDMUND—monks, homoeroticism, artistic philosophy, all the stuff that people who like the idea of liking books would like to have in their books. I read it before it was popular etc etc

This Hamdan Ballal news is so sickening. NO OTHER LAND is such a special collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers who are united for a just and peaceful future. To understand that as a threat worthy of violent retaliation is straight-up evil.
