I have seen almost nothing assessing the scale of the impact of the wrecking of the USPS, if it goes through. But it would mess with voting by mail, prescriptions by mail, so many small and large businesses, how a lot of daily life now runs. Good for the NALC workers.
The National Association of Letter Carriers is rallying in DC against the dismantling + privatization of the U.S. Postal Service

NALC President Brian Renfroe calls the potential “illegal” takeover of the USPS “a direct attack” on 640K postal workers + every American who relies on its deliveries

Jan 6 must be fully & conclusively adjudicated in a court of law if this country is to ever move forward.

They can't just wish it away unless we let them.
Though the Justice Dept has deleted information about its Jan 6 prosecutions from its website, a federal judge has issued an order listing and chronicling all of the cases and prison terms

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...

“Amidst the gloom, there is another story to tell about local journalism — a tale of growth, experimentation and new platforms that emphasize hyperlocal reporting.” People power and community action are what we need right now, and this is a good example.
This. This is what overthrew the elite enslavers in the 1859s and the robber barons in the 1890s. We need these new papers everywhere.
In Rhode Island, as elsewhere, the local news crisis is being solved one community at a time. @phileil.bsky.social reports for Rhode Island Monthly (I'm quoted):
