For ~100 years, it has been generally accepted that you cannot legally conquer foreign territory by force. The US was at the forefront of that development. Under Trump, they are taking the world and international law back to the 19th century- (war as a continuation of politics) and World War-times.

Back in 2019 I led a research effort to digitize old climate model projections and assess how well they did. Turns out they got future warming pretty spot on!
